Today marks one year since the passing of Jarrod Hyam, a lifelong friend, and collaborator. Jarrod was a musician, philosopher, and writer whose kind, poetic soul found a unique voice in collaboration with Maestus co-founder SP on 2013's "Scarlet Lakes" and 2015's "Voir Dire."
He was always willing to help others and always there for friends, family, and fans. He will continue to be missed deeply by Maestus and all those who knew him.
In honor of Jarrod's memory, Maestus is proud to share a cover of Katatonia's "Rainroom" from their "Brave Murder Day" album. Tracked in 2014 during the "Voir Dire" sessions, the cover was the last song Jarrod recorded with the band as vocalist and keyboardist.
We hope you enjoy this cover as much as we do. We feel it's a fitting tribute to Jarrod's memory that celebrates both his love of doom and his passion for a life of beauty.
In June, we'll be sequestered in Sprout City Studios in Eugene, OR, to record our first new material since 2020's "Daybreak's Advent." More information to come.
Thank you for listening.
Maestus

The reason is summarized in the reason why I love extreme doom: it's a matter of focus, intentions that never get diverted from one nature: the appeal for doom, and all emotions, visions, states of being the term implies.. It's a one-colour core that makes the whole. The limits of Arche's music embraces all doom is about; how can I not be very pleased with that? Bertrand Marchal
one of the best death doom bands so far. great melodies with great atmospheres. mostly slow, heavy and doomy but sometimes there are these groovy double-bass drum moments wich are pretty fucking cool. if you like death doom and melodic atmospheric black metal, this is for you. Sælzer Bub
